Luddite Japan: POSTDRAW and EVERDRAW

Today I was disappointed

I had seen some reviews of the everdraw saying that due to the way it had its grooves/knurling made it was slippery in the horizontal direction. I thought, that can’t be that bad.

It is that bad. It feels like holding a tube of ice. I feel like I need to overgrip it to get a firm grasp while writing.

The event limited models are very cool and there were a few woods (mostly the rosewood curls) that I liked, but for 20.000 yen it’s too expensive and the grip I don’t like that much.

Luddite is releasing many new models so I expect this to be tackled in the future. I’ll probably wait for some new releases.

Thank you for sharing that, Diego. I had been on the hunt for an Everdraw in walnut for a good price. Now hearing that the grip is super slippery… I’m going to wait as you’re suggesting to see what they come up with later on.

I did get the black grip pen and I don’t feel it was slippery.

That makes sense. The black seems to be matte, which affords some grip.

Goes to my Luddite case and pulls out the chromed Everdraw just to verify that my fingers’ friction coefficient is within the designer’s parameters…

Yes, the black grip is knurled and more matte so it doesn’t slip at all. It’s just the chromed/silver one

If you don’t feel it’s a bit problem definitely let me know because I don’t want to discourage the whole forum from buying the pen!

I have the Walnut variant and don’t find the grip slippery (maybe it’s because I have a very low writing pressure and don’t need to grip the pencil very firmly).

Missed it by less than 1 hour… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The sticker price of those is 5500 yen so it isn’t extremely cheap there right? In some regions they’re a bit hard to find, so I guess that’s another reason it sold. Many shops only have the ballpoint.
