Hi everyone, long time no see. This weekend there was a pen show in Kobe, Japan, and I had a chance to go there. I wanted to show some photos of the booths and my purchases.
The morning of day 1 was super crowded, although it became a bit more tolerable in the evening.
The Tsuzuri-ya booth. They make some stunning pieces out of wood, brass and ebonite. Sadly no mechanical pencils, but their pens are cool.
The booth of @KAWEkollektor , plus a lot of Craft A’s at the back. Glad to see that his booth was one of the busiest of the event!
My purchases were these two beautiful pencils
The top one is a collaboration between Koubou Setsu and Eboya, the last ebonite factory in Japan. The bottom one is a drafting pencil by Sharp Tank, a small Korean maker.
The Setsu x Eboya collaboration pencil I really love. The ebonite is uncoated so you can enjoy the grippy feeling of polished ebonite, it’s rather different from plastic. Plus, the metal parts are Setsu’s so you know they’re good.
This is from their Twitter, one of all of the stocks they used for this series.
The Sharp Tank pencil cuts no costs in the materials. Titanium for the etched grip, metal inner tube for the lead tube, plus african blackwood for the body. I had been searching for a pencil from him for a long time with these exact specs and I’m so glad I could get one.
For those curious, the price was 15000 JPY for each of them!
