Is there a combination of MP and Leadholder depending on how deep you knock?

I need your help, I search for a hybrid:

Light knock: Advance lead incrementally
Hard knock: Lead can freely fall out

Advantage: Easy reloading and unloading from the front due to fully opening clutch, while retaining the practicality of a classical MP. Use-case any pencil construction where reloading from the back is impossible.

Does this exist? I would be grateful for directions to such a pencil.

I have no idea of MP mechanisms but I think most of the time there is a rubber bushing incorporated into the pencil’s tip, not a second clutch that works as a bushing.

I don’t know of one in my collection but one thing I will say is these KIN 5620 in either generation do not fall out on a full push though they are incremental advance.

To your question, the lead can then be pulled out and pushed back in the smoothest of any of mine with zero interference.

In essence I think your question would expose a fault in an incremental advance mechanism if the leads were to fall out.

Another point is that I had a few that were not incremental advance but acted like they were because they have old lead in them, so though they did advance incrementally and fall out if shaken, it wasn’t an intentional design.

These 5620 are my favorite of my incremental pencils.

rOtring 1305 was sorta in the ballpark. 2 mm holder with incremental advance you could “calibrate” to control the “drop”…front loader

Would it be possible to have the clutch (or a component part of the pusher action) push the second clutch down like this? And have the bottom spring be so stiff that you have to intentionally want to push it? Is there some thinking error here?

The problem with this setup is that you would ALWAYS have to push hard so that you could advance the lead at all.

The issue is that almost all (not familiar with Kura Togas and other advanced mechanisms) normal mechanical pencils require the rubber bushing in the tip to function. The Clutch pushes the lead forward and releases the lead, with the rubber bushing holding it in place while the clutch retracts.

Lead holders (non-incremental advance) do not have anything like that, so they drop freely.

There is not really a way to combine those into one mechanism.

There are a few 2 mm holders that have a “fall-stop” mechanism: Tru Point,and E Roland to name two. The lead is held at the nose by a convetional brass clutch, but a button click advances the a bit and does not drop it…the lead is gripped at its upper end by a thin brass tube that prevents the lead from falling out as it is advances fy the button … you can advance it with the point up.. pretty simple mehanisms
