Identification help - Sheaffer 0.5mm Japan

Hello. Got this vintage pen and pencil set and the pencil is both beautiful and awesome.
Full metal apart from some black plastic detailing on the knocker and clip.
Especially in love with the plain straight cone without a lead sleeve. First one I’ve had.

Anyone know a name for this beauty?
Year?

They are Sheaffer Sentinel. Made by Sailor for Sheaffer sometime in the late 70s, throughout the 80s. These were made in Japan, but some were made in the USA. Not sure when these were discontinued.

Sailor released quite a few pencils with the full conical tip. To my surprise, I really enjoy using them!

Love this forum! Thanks for the detailed reply.
Needed to use the full Sheaffer Sentinel Sailor Japan to get search hits for the same one. All of them with another box, but mine might not be an original box.

This was Sailor (pencils) at their peak! Full metal, including the clutch… nowadays, they’ve sunk to resin clutches even on models that cost over 4000 JPY.
