A few weeks ago, I won a pencil from the Japanese artisan Flamberg.
I never win anything, so I was very excited to hear that I had won. I thought it was very generous because although the other winners were in Japan he paid shipping to me, even though I offered to cover it.
The pencil is a Flamberg custom Sampiura 0.5mm mechanical pencil. The wood types are bog oak and holly wood. It also came packaged with some wax for the wood. I thought that was a nice touch.
The quality and craftsmanship are top tier. I am a woodworker (hobbyist) and am impressed by his work. This natural wood pencil feels amazing in my hand, and its well balanced.
I am not sure what he is using for the internals and have not taken the time to disassemble it (yet). Once I do, I’ll post pictures and measurements.
