Silly sticker won’t come off. I’ve used the method Kelvin recommends, putting it in a ziplock bag and then in warm water, but it hasn’t worked, it doesn’t show any signs of moving. I would leave it on the pencil but I want to use it and the cap doesn’t close properly when I post it because the sticker is too close to the top edge. I don’t want to use my nail. Any other methods? (It’s a Kerry btw).
Try a hair-dryer. It heats up the adhesive and leaves no residue.
That said, I haven’t tried it on a pencil, but it works well with other things.
Will hot air damage the finish or warp the plastic? That’s my question. There aren’t many other options anyway. Ty D. I’ll try the hairdryer.
It looks like a section without the mechanism, what’s wrong with direct hot water, without the bag? Should work on the dry glue.
After that or if that’s not enough any remnants should come right off with isopropyl alcohol – the one used to clean electronics etc.
Yes, it’s the Kerry section. I put it in warm water without the bag for two minutes and the sticker didn’t budge. My fear is that if I heat the water more it might deform the plastic. I can also remove it with a sharp knife and be very careful but I don’t want to scratch it, it’s a brand new vintage Kerry 5 in mint condition A1+ (I’ll just throw it in boiling water). No seriously, the stupid sticker didn’t even flinch.
Two minutes is probably too short – time doesnt matter as much as temp to the plastic, but should affect the sticker, which is also made from plastic but very thin. Hard plastics like ABS begin to deform at 100 ºC (boiling point). Should be okay to keep it indefinetely in water heated up to 60ºC (that’s really hot tap water) or for the duration it takes to cool down.
A knife, any utensil, will definitely leave a mark…
Well, I’m going to try again with hot water and this time the sticker will come off no matter what.

Straight to the hot springs
It didn’t want to come out. I used the edge of that UNI container to press against the edge of the sticker. He couldn’t be saved.
Beautiful. Now it goes back into its little box to never be used.
The eraser cap on the current Kerry extend out from the edge much further than the old model.
