How Mechanical Pencils Work

Found this curious little video about mechanical pencils quite by chance… while searching for some good mechanical pencil component diagrams. There’s a diagram embedded in the video… and somehow the search figured that out. I wonder if “AI” is powering even basic Google image searches now.

It’s pretty nicely done graphically… maybe a little over the top. And it’s VERY simplistic. Most of us would yawn over the bulk of the content. Also, the video editor didn’t pause long enough on some screens. But this little drawing was kind of neat. Someone took the time to draw all of these pencils individually… assuming of course, the video creator didn’t snatch it off the web and forgot to make an attribution:

Excellent work. So yeah… they didn’t make an attribution. Not nice.

Maybe he asked for permission. Maybe not.

I have an old Yahoo/Flickr account that I’d forgotten about… restored it. And I sent a message to the author of that image to let them know, just in case.

Nah… I’ve suffered image theft before. Actually on eBay a few times… where two buggers used them verbatim with my watermark, and another just erased my visual watermark. I’ve had on occasion people reach out and ask me if they can use an image, and that I appreciate very much.
