Heads up: seems there are USPS package tracking delays, interruptions at the moment

Most of my packages coming from overseas end up getting relayed to USPS because I’m a bit frugal when it comes to shipping costs (hence I avoid UPS, Fedex, and DHL when possible–mainly because they tend to hit up packages with customs fees; never had them from USPS). I’ve had 99.9% luck with USPS. Anyway… I’ve had 2 packages inbound, already in country, and then didn’t get any updates over the last 4+ days.

When I get a ZenMarket Japan (ZenGroup) package arrival to NY Customs, once outbound from customs I get 2 or 3 interim updates until final delivery (regional hub, local office, then out for delivery). This time I got none of that:

I’ve got another package inbound from Singapore that arrived in port on July 15th and still no arrival or USPS updates. I’m thinking it may be another case of tracking faults in the USPS system.

Anyway, I don’t know if anyone else here has had tracking delays as well. If you haven’t maybe I just got unlucky. In any case, seems it’s not indicative of package loss or misrouting.

I’ve also had “delivered” when the package transfers to usps from another carrier after customs a couple times. It basically just means it’ll get to you but without anymore status updates.
I haven’t dealt with a non arrival in that instance but I imagine the tracking showing what it shows will help see that it never actually arrived.
USPS is hit or miss as far as arrival times but I’ve never had a package get lost. I’ve only had delays and twice where my carrier delivered to someone else.

I choose DHL every opportunity I get!

USPS has been a disaster around here for the past several months.

Customs seems to be hit and miss these days… I have a Qxpress/FedEx package from Singapore that was stuck for 36 days in Inglewood, CA in June/July, and a DHL/USPS package from Germany that went through NYC in one day last week.

Same story here on QXpress / FedEx from Singapore; stuck in Inglewood CA for eons.

It’s just a hunch, but I can’t imagine things are very easy for US customs agents right now. Stuff seemingly got twice as complicated overnight, and I doubt the agency has put any additional staff in place to deal with these tariff changes. As someone with plenty of federal government experience, I really doubt there was any effective prior planning from the higher-ups at CBP/DHS.

No doubt. Unnecessarily so as well. Mad king syndrome. That’s all I’ve got to say about that…
