I only thought about it two days ago and decided to see if it would work! It did work really well…
Why doesn’t it have any sound? I can’t stand you. You took apart a QC?! Why the hell did you do that?!
This topic is perfect for me because I just have a defective 355 (which someone sent me, I won’t mention their name, they have a YouTube channel). I would be indebted and grateful if any of your eminences could guide me through the repair and setup of a beautiful Pentel Quicksharp 300 PD355. I think the clutch needs to be removed.
Are you using a cigar cutter?
I really enjoyed watching that.
I used a cigar cutter, yes!
The video has no sound because I had to convert it and resize it to fit the 10MB maximum upload size. It was initially 20MB. I also trimmed it to exactly 10 MB.
I disassembled the QC because the clicker was stuck, as shown at the beginning of the video. I didn’t even lubricate it. I just twisted it to the right and left, and it worked way better. Still stuck, but less often. I used WD-40 before with one of the stuck pencils, and it didn’t work. That is why I decided to see if I can take it apart and maybe lubricate it, or even replace it if the pencil is worth keeping.
Thank you, sincerely!
The Pentel Quicksharp is too precious to play with. Share a photo so I can see where is the issue. It could be an easy fix.
There are some QUICKSHARP ones on eBay and way cheaper on Mercari. They ship from Japan…

A slightly safer way to pull the clutch assembly out is by using a QC tip from one with the rubber grip - it’s slightly larger in diameter creating a nice lip that you can pull on. I also like to use a small scrap of leather to help grip it.
Yes, @SlideRules gave me the same advice, thank you very much! I never thought about it. I bought the cigar cutter to use it in many of my pencil repairs, so it always comes to mind first!
Don’t forget to use the patented “Thomas Bite Method” to take out the clicker button first!
Actually, out of necessity last week, I inadvertently discovered my best method so far for easy removal of the clicker button. This little guy…which I will now call my “Thomas Tool”…
@Pencilking Can I borrow your cigar cutter for my Havana pen?
Yay!!! Fianlly a good use for my cigar cutter
The clutch fails to hold the lead, causing it to retract. I’ve examined it with a 20x magnifying glass without noticing anything unusual with the naked eye.
It could be missing the rubber insert within the tip. Also, this tip seems to be replacable with one of the Quick Clickers from the same color grade.
First try to use a tip from any QC and see if it works fine. Then add or replace the rubber insert in your tip.
