I want lead recommendations from the true pencil connoisseurs. I used to use Pilot Neox 2B but I was never too convinced by it. Too smooth. I really like the feedback and dry feeling of HB lead with the darkness of 2B, and the best I found for that was the Hi-Uni GRCT lead.
Right now I think that one is my favourite, Hi-Uni 0.5 2B and 0.3 B.
Is Pentel Ain B 0.5 the default lead on all Pentel pencils? I remember when I got my first Kerry many years ago and wrote with it on a single sheet of paper over a wooden desk, that’s when I truly got hooked to mechanical pencils.
I see. So maybe it was Hi-Polymer HB 0.5
If there is something I can agree with the reddit folks is that it’s super annoying manufacturers don’t tell us which lead is in the pencil when we buy it!! What if I like it!!?
