Those are fire! By the way, last night I was looking for a 0.9 red pencil (ISO encoding) and there really aren’t that many. Pentel and Pilot .9 pencils usually have that ocher yellow color.
If you can find it, the late Pentel P219 is red.
Better luck finding an orange coded 0.9 from one of the European brands, especially FC or Staedtler. Japanese brands kinda went their own way for a long time.
0.2
Japan = Pink
0.3
Japan = Brown / Red
ISO = Yellow
0.4
Japan = Green / Orange (uni)
0.5
Japan = White / Red
ISO = Brown
0.7
Japan = Green / Blue
ISO = Blue
0.9
Japan = (Light) Orange / Red
ISO = Orange-Red
I’ll never forgive the ISO spec for making 0.5 brown
Doesn’t bother me. Pentel was doing Pentel before ISO.
Ferrari Red P207 from Brazil (P207-FRPB).
‘What’s the most popular lead diameter?’
(checks notes) ‘0.5’
‘Right, let’s designate that with the color of shit. Shall we break for lunch?’
Precisely how I imagine it went down
Maybe someone on the ISO team was a chocoholic…
Do you have some 0.9 in red?
Tombow’s 0.5 VARIABLE…. ANY other color… like BLACK!!!
—makes no sense…
Well well well… I hoped I could help on this, as I remembered I had something like this around here; turns out, however, that I only have a salmon-red 0.35 old FC pencil, a TK-fine 1306.
The colour is really unusual, at least compared to the rest of my collection: it vaguely reminds the hue of the orange Pentel PD1065 F (orange), but it is lighter, an more “pink-ish”. I don’t know whether discoloration plays a role in the current stage of the colour itself, and I can’t tell whether this item is rare or not. The clip has been removed as usual, but I should be able to get it — it’s just the same as any other clip for a standard TK-Fine.
A couple more shots, of the golden imprint and of the grip area.
Regards!
‘Red’ is relative…
