I was at the Dollar Store the other day (New York, USA) and noticed they had started stocking Zebra pens and pencils. Low end stuff. But SARASA is supposed to be decent. Saw some gel pens in a few colors. Picked up 2. Well they wrote fine for the first week. But after leaving capped for a few weeks, I go to use the black one and it’s weak. Acting like it’s nearing the end. Dryish. Shook it a bit. Flicked to get fluid forward, and that’s when it started gushing, ink dribbling out of the breather holes. Nasty!
Suffice it to say, this is one of those “you get what you pay for” deals. Avoid!
OTOH, the copper and gold 1.2mm markers I got for writing in cards, by Crafter’s SQUARE, are working great for 2 months so far. Very moist, like the day they were opened.
The BiC basic ballpoint is a very cheap but usable pen that’s great to have for emergencies. However, if you leave one in your car… chances are it may end up not working. I’ve had cases where the viscous ink inside “wanders” in the tube, creating separation. And then ink flow stops, resulting in a useless pen.
