Does this bird have a name?

Anyone know anything about the bird shown on this box of Pilot BP-S pens? (The translation of the characters is “strong beak”.) Does he/she have a name? Did the Mitsubishi Pecker (or any other pencil or pen) have a similar character associated with them?

Here are some pics of the pen:

It is called “Woodpecker” in Hong Kong.

TV advertisement (around 1997?):

It says that Pilot BP-S steel ball is robust and smooth in this video.

Maybe PILOT wants to suggest its tungsten-carbide ball is as strong as a woodpecker?

I did not know why it is called BP-S in the past. Now I guess it may mean BallPoint-Steel? Just my guess

That is awesome! Thanks for the info and the link to the video! I need to get a few more boxes of pens to make a board like that! Thanks again!

You are welcome!
I am interested in PILOT BP-S blue helmet and yellow tee.

I’d like to wear both and walk inside stationery stores in Japan to show my love for PILOT :joy:

The currently available version of that pen is listed thus - maybe hinting at an alternative meaning to BP-S…?

(this wording is repeated multiple times on their website here)

A while back Loft issued the BP-S in nice solid colors. I’ve seen red, orange and ivory white. The fluting where the flat sides meet the grip is identical to the H-115 sharp.
