Does anyone here speak Japanese?

This is a weird ask, and the title maybe should have read “Does anyone here speak Japanese, and be willing to watch my videos that has had the audio translated into Japanese?”

YouTube has recently allowed me to add multiple language tracks to my videos. I use CapCut for my video editing and part of my pro subscriptions I get “points” that I can use towards features that are available, but maybe limited or throttled, even with paid subscriptions. For example, AI translations services. I have used this on a few of my shorts – it’s kind of cool – it translates the existing audio and then “clones” it using my voice. So it sounds like I am speaking Japanese.

The only problem – I have no idea if this is complete gibberish or not. I also use this for translating the closed captions to Japanese. Like most AI translation services, it uses “voice to text” so if I mispronounce a word (I do that a lot apparently) it really gets weird on the translation.
At least on the captions I can edit the English version and it corrects the Japanese caption. But I wont have this ability with the audio - I get what I get

Anyway – I was going to spend some time over the weekend on translating the audio track on a few of my videos, but before I spent the time (and points), I wanted to see if someone would have the time to help me vet the translation before I turn out some garbage.

Sadly I can’t pay anything for this, short of my gratefulness and admiration. But if there are any Japanese speaking content creators here, maybe I could vet your English dubbed videos in return?

I only read some. Can’t say I speak it with confidence…

I can get someone I know to watch and say what they feel about the dubbing. Will let you know.

I don’t, sadly. However, I would be interested in learning Japanese someday.

Here is a short that I will release next week:
Which is the BEST Pilot Double Knock Pencil?

I also have a Japanese version:

As a test on the Japanese version I exported just the audio and brought it in on the English version of the video, as an optional audio track, and vise versa. w/ captions in both languages.

Basically the only difference is the on screen text - its either Japanese or English

I’m attempting using Google translate in conversation mode - but it doesn’t keep up well. But from what I can tell the CapCut AI is doing an OK job?

If this works well enough I might just start adding this to all the videos.

Anyway - if anyone wants to vet the translation I do appreciate it. They only problem is I cannot correct the audio, only the on-screen text and closed captions.

IMO, the 210X is the best double knock they ever made (aside from the Automatic and the H-5005, which feel more like museum pieces than pencils you can actually justify using).

What about the ‘twist-extend’ models? Do they count as double-knock?

And here I thought you’d give that place of honor to the Young Gentleman!

Good question

Cant believe it dubbed* it with your sound being still recognizable! I forwarded it to a friend! Let me get back once she replies.

Just when I thought it was almost impossible to beat an H-2005, I managed to get an H-3005.

I can only imagine what is it like to hold an H-5005 in one’s hand: probably some sort of transcendental experience.

[I’d be very happy to “downgrade” this kind of experience and just find a Pentel QX, to see whether the hype is rightly justified… ]

I love those, and I put them in the double-knock conversation…

But I don’t love the tip as much on those (Gentleman Young aside, of course). I like the 4mm lead sleeve on double-knocks.

Also, I’m just going by my experience of using each piece for the first time. I distinctly remember the “first touch” with quite a few pieces:

  • Pilot H-2105
  • Tombow Pro 0.5
  • Pilot Trusty 0.4
  • Tombow Monotech 1000

Just sublime experiences :100:

Hi, I’m Japanese.
I watched the video and (your )Japanese is almost perfect.
Mechanical pencil enthusiasts will understand everything you’re saying.
But for those who aren’t interested, it will just sound like a spell, no matter what language it is!
