Found this in the Diplomat 1984-85 catalog

That’s the one I want

I did have the platinum in silver at one time but I wasn’t very impressed… I do want a Diplomat version though… I’d enjoy that

(Even if they’re the same, I’m weird like that)

Yeah I have to agree. When I finally got ahold of one, I was happy I hadn’t paid a lot. Maybe I just got a really well used, one but it doesn’t operate smoothly and the whole tip is too wobbly. It’s a great piece to have for the collection but I won’t be buying any more.

Wow, that‘s a great found. I have never seen one — but that is no wonder since I did not know they exist

Quite high on my wish list…

I have never heard anyone speak of a Z that is not janky. Apparently MOMA doesn’t care about stuff like that.

Can someone comment on whether Pilot Protecs, Pilot Grandee Priere, or Sakura Y2 really deliver where Z waffles?

ProTecs and Grandee Priere are phenomenal pencils. I thought the ProTecs would be my grail, but I actually prefer the Priere. No experience with the Sakura Y2

I bought the all metal silver Priere for a good price a year or more ago but then the seller cancelled. I like the look of the dark gray one better, but the plastic internals are a turn-off. Still, I imagine they are both very comfortable to hold and use. Hope to try either some day.

I paid a zillion dollars for a lot of 3–5 pencils one time; included was a stickered gunmetal Priere.

Turned out it was a BP :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

That is bad.

This has happened to me more than a few times as well, usually as the result of bidding while drinking beer…

(I’ve since kicked that bad habit.)

Keep the beer and keep the pencils. Just don’t mix.

Wonder how many pass time like me: whiskey + cheese + pencil admiration.
