Dating MPs based on matching BPs refills mfd

This is an attempt at getting data on MP manufacture years based on production dates stamped on refills of the matching ballpoints. Obviously the refills can be replaced by newer ones, but these listed below are almost all NOS with sticker plus a few lightly used so I’m fairly confident.

Platinum textured metal 1974

Platinum yellow arabesque 1976
(Anyone know the model names for these two?)

Tombow BC-500T 1977 (don’t know if there is a companion MP to it)

Platinum BPN-1000 ( matching pencil is MPN-1000) 1980, also appears in the 1980 Platinum catalog.

Pilot Quatro 1983

Pilot Volex 1984

Mitsubishi SS-1006 1990 (brother of the Mx-1006 and cousin to Mx-1052)

Zebra F-800 1991 No matching MP that I know of, but the Sakura sliding sleeve MS 1000 is very similar so perhaps it was made by the same OEM in the same timeframe?

Any contribution is welcomed.

From the 1973 mini catalog:

And the 1977 catalog, but doesn’t appear to be ‘yellow’ or gold:

That blue Quatro was definitely shown in the 88 catalog, so perhaps it was produced since 1984?

This pic of a Pilot Volex set features the ‘color block’ logo from the period since 1977 (from what I can see in the 100-year book)…

Logo usage continued thru 1983…

… and seems to have evolved by Nov 1984 with the introduction of Hi-tecpoint V5:

Your knowledge is a pillar of this comunity. Thank you for the IDs. Regarding Platinum BAW / MAW -1500, I looked again in the 1980 catalog uploaded here:

And did not find it. Is there another 1980 catalog?

Anyway, there are three versions of it: all white metal; white metal barrel with yellow cone, button, clip and mid ring ( the one you posted) and all yellow metal in my previous post.

My Volex set assumed to be from 1984 came with the sleeve, box and paper below:

You are right: I saw the wrong file names while sleepy. The correct catalog dates are 1973 and 1977… my bad :stuck_out_tongue:
