Attention: There seems to have been a major change to shipping charges. I was using the shipping calculator on Zen Market and set it for 2600g and package size of 38cm x28 x 20 and it was a lot cheaper than last week, so I got to playing with the calculator some more. DHL is a flat rate from 100g up to 4500g for that size box. I noticed UPS and FedEx were in the same range as DHL, give or take a couple of bucks.
So instead of ¥11,477 via Zen Express, I’m now paying ¥4,621 via UPS.
I really don’t understand why Zen Express is nearly 3x the other major carriers that actually ship faster. Makes no sense to me.
I was going to add that Zen Express is NOT a viable option. Who knows why they are so effin high. pay 3 times as much for a delivery thats 3 times as long… yeah sure, makes since to me … -said no one ever.
Zen Express is the best for light parcels. Initially, my contents would have maybe a dozen pencils. Not much weight. And Zen Express would be cheaper than FedEx, DHL and UPS. It seems that the advantage ends when you start going above 1kg.
exactly. I ship more than a kg most every time, usually 2kg or more, so Zen Ex is not for me.
Have any of you noticed (on Buyee) significant delays from the time an item is mark as “arrived at warehouse” and when it shows up on the package info page?
I have a pencil that “arrived” yesterday but has yet to present on the “package info” page.
Yes apparently they’ve had a large increase in the number of shipments, which is causing processing delays.
Thank you. I was beginning to wonder
That was me, shopping Saturday morning with bloody Mary’s on an empty stomach.
Now that’s funny
Sometimes it’s down to a tardy seller, or a seller who just doesn’t bother to update the shipping status on his YJ or Mercari account. I’ve had winning bids and purchases ‘stew’ for 2 weeks without an update on its shipping status, and then suddenly: YOUR PACKAGE HAS ARRIVED.
Is it because of this?
Notice that Important tag under the Buyee app banner." Delays in shipment and warehouse operations due to Typhoon No.7(LAN)"
Akin to “Buying from Japan,” how about Buying from Korea? Is there any feasible way for someone from the USA to buy anything, without accruing high fees and shipping rates? I was thinking in particular about the Korea Limited Edition Pentel Kerry. Prices in KRW seem to be about half of what they are in JPY.
So I’ve actually looked into this before getting into buying from Japan. Although prices in KRW for the limited edition Kerry are cheaper, the cost for Korean proxies is significantly more expensive than Japanese proxies.
However, if you wish to continue, I know of gmarket global and KoreaBuyandShip, but not sure if you’ll find the kerry there.
Thanks for sharing that…
The hassle is part of the cost impact. I just assume if the fees and shipping are a good bit higher, in the end the effort isn’t worth it. Now I just need for Buyee to run a 15% off sale on Rakuten transactions!
Field trip!
What is paypay flea market? Does anybody know if it’s interesting for pencils?
i didnt see any MPs on either. Mostly clothing, etc
It is just a flea market, doubt you’ll find anything on there.
There are duplicate listings on PayPay from Mercari. But nothing really new…
