there are plenty of ways to “knock” pencil
such as
1.click(for most MP)
2.doubleknock(Pilot automac,etc.)
3.body knock(Kokuyo mistral,etc.)
4.atmatic(Sakura ats3000)
5.ffmatic(Mitsubishi 5050,etc.)
6.front-lifting lead advancement(Pentel 3015,etc.)
7.twist-type lead advancement(Pilot cocoon,etc.)
8.side click(lots of Pentel)
9.side glide(Pentel pn105)
10.rotate the grip(Pentel technomatic)
11.special form like Timeline.
you can add more if you like.
So would you rate them from the elegance, convenience and stability?
There is is also a difference in ‘twist’ methods:
- Twist-click, e.g. Pilot Fumiraku, or Leuchtturm Drehgriffel
- Continuous twist (no clicking), e.g. Uchida Drawing Sharp, Scripto, Autopoint, etc
Then, we also have…
• Shaker / Fure-fure - Pilot 2020, Zebra Tect 2way, Tombow Monograph etc
• Full-Automatic (no clicker), e.g. Staedtler Micromatic series
Not sure if the recent Sun-Star ‘Topull’ would qualify as ‘FF-matic’? Haha!
I think my favorite for elegance is Mistral-style body-knock. No buttons protruding + natural flexing motion in the hand.
Sunstar: cheaper version of ffmatic lead advance fersure.
Does the Pilot Protecs count? I think it is 2in1 situation. Twist and double knock.
sure.
you remind me of Uni jumpop,a special pe ncil can side click after switch it .(like Lamy pico)
BTW follow this idea whether can we call Dive’s lead advancement in pulling out the pen cap of the pen as’click’
Uh? Had no idea…
Hmm, yeah that one could use some clarification.
sorry,it’s my fault.
it is not “technomatic”,it’s very rare and has prefix"techno",it’s “technopress”(pn55)a special pencil has 3ways to ‘click’
