All-grey Lamy Tipo 1st gen

Found an unassuming grey on grey Lamy Tipo rollerball sitting in a dusty shelf of an old shop recently. It caught my eye because I hadn’t seen a monotone edition like this before… both the grip and clip, which are usually black, are in a matching shade of grey.

Here, I’ve put it together with my 2 other grey Lamy: a newish Xevo ballpoint and an original Noto modified with a Schmidt DSM 2007. So a BP, MP and RB combo!

Best of all, the dried out M66 can be swapped with any modern gel refill like the uniball Zento, One, Energel, etc.

Does anyone have any idea when this all-grey Tipo was released? :folded_hands:t2:

You could pair it with… a FIAT Tipo car model — yes, we named a car “Tipo”, which in Italian means “just a guy”, but also “a type of ”.

Pretty successful car, by the way.

Truthfully, the Lamy looks faster than the car! :joy:

You can’t imagine how right you are.

(Well, until you see the custom versions of the Tipo car made by many crazy guys who maybe lived close to where Ferrari cars are made, and used to put any sorts of outlandishly fast engines under the hoods of these Tipo, just to toss them on drag strips to test the farthest limits of human and car endurance/performance. :sunglasses:)

This pen came out so many years ago! I used to work at Paper Source back in 08/09 and I bought myself one at that time! Are you willing to sell it to me?! I recently lost it and would love to replace it let me know

Hi Nick! Thanks for chiming in on the relative year of availability. I can’t bear to part with mine as it’s just perfect in my grey Lamy trio. Will check in with the shop when I visit next time.

yes can you please??! I remember that’s the reason I took that one bc the others sort of looked the same and this one was like like the only one that stood out  Enjoy! It was worth the ask.

So the hole works as a latch for the clip to snap into, and then you press the back of the clip to let the spring retract the refill?

Yup! Super simple ‘mechanism’. The current version has an updated design with a more comfy rounded rectangular tip on the clip. But to me it has the same effect as the revised Zebra Sarasa Grand: lost its charm for the sake of ‘better ergonomics’.
