Not a leadholder enthusiast, but aware of this. There has been discussions about it in the past too.

This seems like a modern take on an old idea? Very nice industrial form… but my main worry is the control ring getting in the way of my grip. Same issue with the traditional version(s).

There were yet earlier 18th century pencils based on the slider principle:
