A Sailor and 4 Pilots walked into a bar…

I just took delivery of a Sailor Metalino Fit 2+1 multipen in blue. Far as I could tell, this design was produced from 2015 and went out of production in 2025, although existing stocks are still available online.

I’d brushed aside this model in the past due to the incongruent use of knurling on what is ostensibly an executive pen. There is at least one other Sailor multipen with a knurled section but the machining on the Metalino Fit is definitely hardier and pointier… almost ALVIN-like!

The Metalino Fit has a nice matte finished aluminum upper and lower, and heavier coated brass for the cone section and eraser cap. The date on the refills say 2025, so these are likely at the tail end of production.

What made me reconsider the Metalino Fit was discovering that it came in a nice shade of dark blue—I’d previously seen it in burgundy. Combining blue with that short section of knurling just above the cone gave me an instant flashback to the Pilot H-56x series of drafters. And so here we are!

And since the Sailor already has a 0.5mm MP component, I only included the 0.3, 0.4, 0.7 and 0.9 for the Pilot gang.

You’ve got to stop, man, you can’t go on showing me new multipens like this with no end :face_with_peeking_eye:

Yo! This isn’t ‘new’… it’s already 10 years old!! Hahaha

Being a sweaty hander, it’s hard to express how much I would like to see more incongruent use of knurling on executive pens :sob:

This is the other Sailor multipen with a knurled grip. “Mulshan” (sometimes spelled “Marshan”) is one of Sailor’s longstanding brands for multifunction pens. Kinda like Platinum has its “Double Action” or Zebra’s “Sharbo”.
