When you told me a couple years back that you were obsessed with the Leadmaster No.31, I was so surprised because I couldn’t see how it fit in with your collection. I remember thinking, ‘Where is his taste in pencils headed?’
Then again, the only part of your collection I knew was that stuff you were getting rid of on ebay.
Not long after this little exchange, I came to admire the No.31 and got a couple myself. Tastes can evolve, and they can also be rubbed off on others.
Ahah. They do! The Leadmaster is indeed a bit of an outsider considering the rest of my pencils… but it is also one of my fave 2mms. It is absolutely gorgeous, top materials, unique colours and refined grooving all over — and then there’s the imprints which are truly impeccable. It feels indestructible, i imagine it was developed with industrial and hardware environments in mind, like they do today with the Tajimas and a few others.
And new ones are coming !
