Envy attack!!! I have just one, with the red end but I find that the button on mine has a rather rough edge around the hole… so it bites my thumb when I use it.

Those pencils with more than one type of knurling wrapping the grip portion are always super-intriguing.
I wonder how effective is this way of finishing the tip of the holder; I don’t think I have many models with such a combination, and I vaguely remember that sometimes it works like a charm, some other times it just adds a layer of confusion to my fingertips, which cannot locate properly the position they need to take in order to better hold the tool.
Those imprints are superb, by the way.

The only disadvantage of these holders is that they are not made very precisely - the transition between the grip and the body is obviously made incorrectly in many of them - eccentrically. Look at yours, but it’s quite common with my pieces (see red one in the second photo).
Other similar models such as 771, 773, 775 and 777 also suffer from this problem… It’s a shame because otherwise they are perfect.

Even the East Germans got in on the concept:
Part of the earlier discussion re the JS 1021 was the transition from barrel to nose. In showing this E ROLAND set, I am reminded that I would like to laud the designers of these pencils for their great balance of form and function. The transition they applied between the barrel and nose to these and several other large bore leadholder/pencils is quite nice…and makes them very easy to use. The clean taper from a classically faceted wood barrel to their similarly faceted aluminum (alloy ?) nose pieces is well aligned and generally very smooth.
