Uni ZENTO Signature Model: the Dive Companion?

The zoom colour miss match is quite blatant now that its kept right next to the uni.

I saw listings for this on mercari going for about 5000+ yen the week after its release, and I thought to myself, let’s not rush to buy it too early, just wait and the price will drop in a few days.

I’ve been regretting my decision ever since.

Your photo just dissuaded me from getting the C1 ballpoint in Graphite Blue. The difference isn’t as striking on the matte black, but there is a slight difference in texture visually, and a tactile difference in surface height too which I never noticed before.

That’s why I only have one C1 in graphite blue. The sand silver seems much safer. It’s like… are they anodizing the two halves in different factories??!

I’ll play with my Roady XL for now…

That actually looks like something OHTO might make! :+1:t2:

I’m getting stick grenade vibes, or the amnesia pen from Men In Black.

It’s funny how the light is playing tricks on that polyacetal cap, giving the illusion of a grid like pattern. The cap has just lateral grooves.

While I don’t disagree, I can’t help to think that Uni made these extremely affordable rather than the other way around. I still can’t comprehend how they managed to release the alumite grip at 1000 yen. They only explanation is that they plan on scaling production massively for the Zento line, while Zoom planned on their line to remain minor/design focused and didn’t scale as much.

Yesterday I went to a Uni Zento product exhibition and talked with one of the developers of the Zento line. He explained to me how they released the signature model not as the flagship, but rather as an iconic and representative design. They say they plan on releasing pens both more and less expensive than it. I’m really curious about what they’d make for a 5000 or 7000 yen model Zento.

Zento in wood maybe? 5000 yen easy.

New Jetstream prime. Design seems in line with the Zento language. Loving the one on the right side.

I seem to recall an older Jetstream multipen that had a somewhat similar design issue of connecting thick-thin halves. If the clip gets some use, the bump or step where they meet will become annoying.

I remember that one too. It’s an odd design

Addendum: It can be seen here:

The one on the right seems like the previous 3+1 without the gaudy jeweled clip, indeed it looks much better this way. I’m curious about the one on the left, where can one find more information about it?

Edit: found it here.

I like the matt black look of this.
