‘Prototype’ is probably the closest to being an accurate description. The legit clip says it came from the OEM production line for Staedtler, but the lack of markings could indicate it was just a color test shot that didn’t get approved for mass production.
As far as I can tell, the ‘fun’ colors like the bright blue, pink and turquoise green seem to have been sold in Japan… hence the Japanese price seals on them. That’s also where I got mine from on Yahoo Japan Auctions.

Famous white one (bought on ebay.de?) I have ever seen they there only, two pieces for sale. Now, sold out. I guess, prototype, because they are not included in any catalogue I have ever seen.
Correct. The seller only ever found two. They were purchased from the same sale within the same lot. The first one sold earlier this year and I grabbed the last one. I’ve sent off a message to Staedlter Germany via Staedtler North America (my German iz nien). I’m thinking prototype as well because the silk screen isn’t on there which makes me wonder if they didn’t have a name yet when this one was created? It was sold from Koln, Germany and I don’t know if Staedtler has production around the area but if they do it would make sense as a prototype.
Honestly though I have no idea but I love it. I don’t think it will leave me during my lifetime. Don’t even know
