Looking for information on Pentel PMG manufactured between 1972–1975

@DarkwingDuck

It looks like the middle pencil is a Version 1, Gen 1 (at least according to what I have). The Lead Hardness Ring has the 2H to HB covering only half the ring, and I do not see anything on the band of the clip, implying that it has the uppercase PENTEL going down the clip.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation.

Since most products using the Version 1 mechanism disappeared around 1971–72, I think the remaining stock was probably used up in the PMG.:sweat_smile:

@DarkwingDuck I was just looking a little closer at the picture of the breakdown of the 3 PMGs.
Another indicator that the middle PMG is a Version1, Gen 1 is the cleanout pin on the plunger is straight.

Also, are the threads on the white connector on the left narrower than the one on the right? It looks like it may be a Version 2, Gen 1, which would give us 1 date for that Generation, since mine does not have a date.

Yes, the top threads are in fact more narrow than the later stickered PMG

The lead hardness ring on my Pentel PMG is metallic, different from the plastic collars shown in all the other pictures. Does anyone know why?

The gold ring was export, and the red ring was domestic.
