I remember this story, and possibly the picture with the box and items. Extra rare unicorns indeed.
Still, I hang by the fragile thread of hope: I thought for years there were only four or five Tekagraphs 9604 “Rund” out there — one in Damdeok’s collection (who knows where that one ended…); one spotted on a IG page from an account possibly called “oval”; one in the hands of an American collector of drafting tools, who had traded it just a few days before I DM’ed him an offer; and maybe one or two somewhere in Germany or in the UK. And then came a random guy with some interesting news…
I have to believe Pentel made more than three of these in total; they are not custom pieces made by some Italian recluse artisan with a secret workshop. And I am very curious to know how the batch was dispersed throughout the world (or just Japan).
Maybe one day; maybe. After all, aren’t we all here for the thrills of finding the impossible missing piece by chance, at a ridiculously low price, right where we least expected?
