I’m starting to get frustrated with buyee which is disappointing but partly my cheapness I guess. I don’t pay for any additional insurance, I opt the standard ¥300 and get no insurance and twice now multiple item lots have not come in my shipment. One was an assortment of pencils and the other was a box of Pentel PA5 assorted colors. Each time they “check” the warehouse but never find it and remind me that I have no recourse and that they recommend in the future paying the ¥500 for the insurance.
Buyee has responsive customer service, I’ll give them that but they are minimally effective at doing anything. Their responses are just that there isn’t anything they can do majority of the time.
Afaik there’s no insurance possible with a national post service (usps, etc), because that’s their prerogative. Even with the express services they offer you I wouldn’t trust they can solve an issue without an incredible amount of work on our part. First off, the responsibility of what happens to a shipment is always the sender, that’s why you don’t get any proper answers when you mail as a recipient telling them they’re late or they’ve lost a package.
I had one mix-up with ZenMarket. An item that was supposed to be included was absent. They checked and found it still in the warehouse. They gave me a discount on my next shipping.
But if there’s a seller who has committed fraud, there’s little recourse. Especially if it’s a “mimicry” kind of fraud, such as a substitution of the same item type. However, I did have just one shipment within Japan (seller to ZenMarket) where an item was missing from the package. The seller issued a partial refund that was actually generous, and ZenMarket credited me. But that was like 3 years ago.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with ZenMarket. Buyee can be a little cheaper, but I just like the ZenMarket website functionality and their packing/shipping services. They do an excellent job. I’ve never had any items damaged sent by them from Japan to USA.
I once bought a really nice Staedtler 35 05 from Mercari thinking it would be a nice piece to resell here — but I got a hair pin in the mail.
It’s like… you could do a meme with it, but we’re past memes…
I hope.
I do believe very much in Karma or whatever word to describe that everything comes back around.
Something like that for instance, I know that deep down the individual that did it is very unhappy. Until they choose a better way of being they will always feel misery simply because it’s impossible for dishonesty like that and happiness to exist together.
That thought helps me.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
