I went to the PO this evening to send out a couple of packages and saw the announcement for shipments to the USA:

This is what the small padded envelope looks like at SGD 29. I used several of these to send off small shipments of between 2 to 4 loose pencils packed in additional bubblewrap / cardboard. The envelope will not work if there are 2-3 original size boxes like those from Pilot, Pentel, Uni, etc.
For larger shipments beyond 4-5 wrapped pencils, this is next size up: a small preformed carton at SGD 69.
The 3rd Express Shipping option allows for larger or non-standard cartons but costs SGD 159.
All prices are BEFORE taxes.
I guess it’s ‘up to us’ how much to declare, but the flip side is if a precious item gets lost, etc.
I would like to hear from you what is preferred. From the prices, it feels like a carton combining at least 3-4 persons’ purchases might make sense?

Roughly $23/$54/$125
Without claiming over $100 the recipient risks losing the item and no recompense.
Claiming over $100 gives security but risks tariffs.
Honestly, if it tracks past customs, each one has its fair value in my opinion.
