Here are his prices for his production models. I definitely want him to make money on our build but I’m hoping that if we have enough people preorder that we’ll be able to keep pricing roughly in that ballpark, unless we as a group decide to push the design and material choice further.
Once we decide on a direction or two we’d like him to consider, we’ll get him to quote.
Thanks. I have to think about it. I have in principle no problem with paying in this range for a pencil, but usually I am confident with these more expensive specimen that I could remonetize them w/o problems, while this piece would be more a kind of personal luxury.
IJ stuff sells on Mercari pretty regularly. I think if collectors knew you had an extremely limited piece, they would still pay top dollar for it.
(I’ll posit that every major Mercari seller will know about Knockology by this time next year.)
We’ll have to be somewhat reasonable with our expectations of complete exclusivity with the form factor. Not sure to what degree we’ll be able to expect the Doc to not remake a similar model for a paying customer. Obviously, no one else will be able to have him add the Knockology logo. Maybe he’ll consider not replicating anything close but that may be a tall ask.
We’ll give it till the end of week for a rough number of preorders and then work with him on design ideas. Ideally we’ll be able to pull him into either this thread or a private thread with the interested members.
