What do you do with used up lead?

I’m curious what you all do with your lead once it’s too short for a pencil to hold. I know there’s a pencil out there that can use up lead a little more than the standard ones, but I can’t recall its name.

I’ve got an extra lead case in my bag that I throw the scraps into, with the idea that I’ll find something interesting to do with it eventually. Maybe crush them and use the dust in an art project? Maybe it’s feasible to somehow recycle them back into usable lead? I imagine many of you just throw the scraps away, but that makes me feel bad for the lead lol

I use it in a double clutch pencil like you mentioned. Otherwise just toss - I have like 6 lifetimes’ supply of lead at this point.

^this. never depleting my stockpile ever….. especially since it keeps growing some how:laughing:

The short-ish (about 1-2 cm) can go in compass inserts, the very short I use in a double clutch MP (the Muji ABS)

I did this, but the lead powder finish is very shiny.

Unfortunately I don’t have any use for a compass so I can’t use them that way, but I will look into the Muji (because I totally need more pencils :stuck_out_tongue: )

Hmm good to know, I might have an idea for a project but in not sure if it’ll work out at all

There is a nice solution if you’re talking about wood-cased pencils. The Tsunago

Woah that’s cool, but unfortunately I rarely if ever use traditional pencils :frowning:

To be honest though, that little thingy kinda makes me want to start…

Sadly, discard… because double chuck pencils are only available in 0.5mm and I mainly use 0.3

Technically you can collect them, as some would collect their used up pen refills, as like milestone medals(?)
