Weird and Whacky grip designs

In the 90’s Pentel released some interesting designs where they went way out there focusing on interesting grip designs.

Some models that come to mind are the A325 J-Grip

and then in the early 2000’s they released the PR505 ERGoNoMiX

and then a few years later the PR805 ERGoNoMiX WingGrip

I know there were many other similar models with rubber or rubberized grips, but I’m mainly referring to the more unique ones. With that said, did any other manufacturers have whacky grip designs similar to these?

BTW – if you have one of these you want to sell, please let me know!

I love these so much. That’s my Donald Duck J-Grip in that photo. I sold it recently to a Disney collector.

I may have an extra J-Grip. Let me check.

Here are some more photos of it. Such a wild piece. You can rearrange the grips which is really fun and cool to do.

I think there was another Pentel ‘ergonomic experiment’… the Shift Grip or something? They also made the Flex Grip series that allowed some chonky clear grips to be twisted left/right.

I think you are referring to the FlexFit and FlexFit II which had silicone grips that you could twist one way or the other to create a spiraling finger-groove grip.

Sensa also have those super squishy “plasmium” grips. Mine started to ooze after about ten years

That’s right, FlexFit GT and friends.

Then there’s OHTO… The Radial puts a tire pattern on the grip, while the V-Gripper is just chunkyyy.

The A335 Shift.A.Grip is probably what you are thinking of. I don’t know much about it, so not much in the Pentel Book.

I do have the FlexFit & FlexFit II, due to the double knock mechanism, and as Dave says, the grip can be twisted to provide a more custom grip for either right or left handed people.
