The one you just linked is on Mercari all the time. If I’m not mistaken, one is available now for ¥5000 or less.

in fact in relation to the other offers from the seller this one is a snap … this piece is so much rarer and more valuable than e.g. uchida D for the same price. and technoclic for a higher price is a joke.

actually this very pencil drew me into the yja rabbit hole some years ago, but: I never succeeded in getting one.
here is my result track:
Capped silber-schwarz kariert .5 4711, 21509, 10550, 11611, 15781

of course not getting the one for 4711 JPY (lol) was stupid at that time. :-/

This would be over ¥30,000, though—too high for me to take seriously, especially considering the price history you mentioned.

Yes, it is not a good price. only in relation to the other pencils there the factor to the Japanese market price is smaller. and my price history shows how rare the item is (the last entry is probably older than 2 years?-- we see huge price increases in the market). I don’t catch everything, but for comparison my history for QX is much more populated:
QX 11500, 12510, 12500, 9616, 10000, 11550, 13500, 33500, 33500, 23576, 25000, 23000, 25000, 20000, 17500, 17500, 18000, 17500, 41000, 53000, 53000, 106000

generally, those resellers are more annoying than helpful, of course. especially since singapore doesn’t mean for me, that no import tax & custom fees apply (ok, there is a better chance that a package slips thru customs than for professional proxies).

Wow… the QX PN305 jumped by 10x??

yes, but it was never below 10k (one figure is below in my list, but maybe the state was bad).
but it is not unusual: tombow variable, pentel mechanica, pentel technoclic, … all have increased in that range. i would gess mechanica has the hugest increase rate.

I believe you meant technomatic and not technoclic.

i really meant technoclic (even if it didn’t fit so well in this range). I was surprised about the Japanese prices some time ago …

technomatic has an increase, too, of course, but more moderate. it was about 10k when i started (except for a while when a larger wave from one seller hit the market), and today maybe around 40k. also more moderate increase can be observed for pg15.

I don’t get why the Technoclic has gone up so much. It’s all plastic, and not a premium grade. Wasn’t the original price just 1,000 JPY?

Not to mention looks that only a mother could love.

It is not as awkward looking as the PD1055.

I think the Orca whale airplane is actually pretty cool.

It’s the piece I find most people are drawn to grabbing to look at when they see my collection.

Yes, and that’s around what they still have been sold some years ago.

Do you know what were the production start-end years for the Technoclic?

No idea, but I am sure the pentel experts here do know
