I would totally bid, but don’t know about that shipping cost!
Seriously though, I’m curious to see how it goes. Good luck @Zeta!

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to suggest the only people who are even eligible to buy this pencil are all in this forum
I am wondering though: regarding stickers, what is the deal with the one on this and similarly on the more recent Automacs? It seems more like an informational sticker and not a price sticker, so I don’t feel like they add much value. I left mine on for a bit, but ended up yanking them off.
Nobody cares about the “this is how this pencil works” stickers; purists do care about pricing stickers because they reveal information about the time of manufacture, the country of distribution, and the overall condition of the piece.
In my view, most hardcore collectors do not consider a piece to be “complete” unless it includes an original pricing sticker.
I resisted this for a while, but now I’m really wishing my hi-mecha pieces all had their original stickers
Yep, I leave all pricing stickers on for the sense of age and also tend to leave barcode stickers on.
I guess I’m firmly in the minority here - but I really dislike keeping the pricing sticker on. Perhaps it’s because I like to use and enjoy the pencils as much as I can and having the sticker on feels like driving around in a car with the price sticker still in the window (it’s called a Monroney sticker, btw). The other huge problem with the stickers is that they will peel, fade, come off and leave a residue or even a tan mark, all of which look quite ugly.
On the value of the sticker itself - sure, it can provide important information in some cases like year of manufacture, country sold in etc. Most of the times though, it isn’t that useful. An accompanying manual or box can be far more informative. I also disagree that a sticker indicates the overall condition - you will often come across specimens that still don’t work right, because a lot of folks use the pencils with the sticker on.
I’ve seen people talk about using nail polish or clear tape to preserve the sticker but I don’t know how good that would be.
I’m with you, I’m always using my pencils and it feels wrong to keep the sticker
My OCD would hate knowing I put clear tape over it.
What if you put clear tape over your pencils… Only to later realize there’s tiny air bubbles…
I couldn’t go on living like that.
That was why I removed the informational sticker from my Automac’s - I use them. The only pencil I use that actually has a price sticker is one of my PD505’s and that’s only because I don’t have one without… although there is one currently on Mercari without the sticker that I keep eye balling…
I forgot to mention the best part - you save a lot of money not chasing stickered specimens
This is true!!!
No jokes - I know of a collector who vacuum seals his fountain pens for preservation. This is one of the better ways to preserve something very valuable that you know you’re not gonna use.
I have about 50 pieces that I plan on casting inside of clear resin as an art piece.
This is the way! Then put it on a rocket and send it into space for aliens to find
I can arrange that.
No doubt there are many more collections like this, impressive as it is.
The other day I considered using nail polish to preserve a pencil lettering and I refrained thinking - Are you crazy? Does nail polish say on the label that it is used to protect mechanical pencil stickers? Do you really think that nail polish, no matter how good quality it may be, is made to preserve its integrity for more than a couple of days? Gentlemen, it’s about nail polish, it’s not a layer of transparent acrylic resin, where did that idea of putting nail paint on pencils come from, surely on Reddit, that’s where I read that, what crazy people.
Sick!!!
