I wonder who got that Pentel golden scepter

It was a proxy buyer. I’ve not been following these, so I’ve no idea about the price history. Sure looks impressive, though.

Piece was a no-go for me from the onset due to the stamping :persevere:

Kicking myself for not buying a tarnished Scepter in 2021 for ¥5400.

The lettering looks painted on to me… and I think bidders were counting on that, hence the high bid amounts. I grabbed the photo and enlarged. I don’t see any grooves where lettering overlays them, so as I see it that’s paint which can be dissolved and washed away.

I didn’t get it. :frowning: I wanted it but not at that price. I wasn’t too worried about the lettering. I could polish that off pretty easily in my studio. Could have even re-plated it if necessary.

I have wanted to get the 3 different Scepters, and now have all three, but the Gold and the Sterling Silver are later versions with Gen 2 tips (standard 2mm press-fit tips), not the original unique cone tips.

I still want the Gen 1 Scepters.
