Drawing #2 - What I learned

My second drawing.

I think I need a thicker and softer lead, to do backgrounds and larger areas, and so I don’t get “scratching”.

Any constructive critiques and tips welcome.

Other than that, I think this turned out well.

P.S: The bottom left is not that light, that’s just the camera flash.

To get nice smooth shaded backgrounds I will often use a cross hatching effect like you’re using there but then use blending stumps/eraser pens (see image) to provide an even smooth backdrop
